Fun Ways to Stay Active This Holiday Season

With the holiday season quickly approaching, it is important to stay active to balance out the large feasts we are eagerly awaiting. The weather starting to be colder will limit the outdoor exercise possibilities, but there are still some nice sunny days ahead.  There are also indoor exercises and activities that are available so you have more options and opportunities to get up and move. Let’s take a look at a few ways you can stay active this holiday season!

Thanksgiving Football
When you think of classic Thanksgiving traditions football is at the top of the list for most families. From pee wee to the NFL, there are plenty of opportunities that come with the holiday. The best part is that you can still partake in the tradition even if you are not a world class athlete. All you need to do is head out to the backyard and have fun with your friends or family! After you enjoy your own game you can head back inside to enjoy a full day of watching the pros.

Participate in a Holiday Themed Run
Holiday themed runs have really taken off in the past few years. Whether it is a Turkey Trot or a Santa 5K there are so many to choose from! This is also a hidden opportunity to get the whole family out for a nice bonding experience. You can help motivate each other and just go out there and have fun!

Enjoy the Snow
With winter approaching quickly the snow is not far behind. You may think that snow can only be enjoyed by children but that is not the case. Get on out there and go for a winter walk or have a snowball fight with the kids or grandkids. Not only will you be getting exercise, you will also be spending quality time with your loved ones and make unforgettable memories.

Show Off Your Dance Moves
One way you can stay active and impress (or embarrass) your loved ones is to show off your dance moves at your Holiday party. Even if you’re not the best dancer just go out there and enjoy yourself. You will be having a blast all while getting in a nice workout!

Set a Goal
It’s never too early to make a New Year’s resolution! It could be something as simple as working out three times a week or cutting back on sweets, but as long as you have a goal you are  on the right path!

The holiday season is a time to enjoy yourself with your loved ones.  AMS Cardiology wants you to make the best of this time and you need to feel good to do so!  There are definitely fun forms of physical activity that can better your heart and overall health. We hope that we were able to provide you with some fun ideas that you can implement into your holiday schedule!
